I paint in oils, using highly rendered figurative imagery to construct familiar worlds, subtly destabilised by unexpected relationships between people, objects and environments. Drawing on realism, magic realism and symbolism, my paintings explore identity, belonging and the displacement created by our changing relationship with the natural world, creating a tension between the recognisable and the uncanny, the serious and the playful.
